If I could give zero stars, I’ll do it. So unfriendly staff! Especially the lady at the reception, and they were 3! Why I’m saying this is because I can’t believe what I was told afterwards. We went there to ask if they needed any help with taking the dogs for a walk and the only answer I got was ‘go home and open your computer and fill the application form online!’, plus you have to do a course, which the receptionist told me in a very unfriendly way that I should not hope for anything soon because they are fully booked and there’s only time in March/April. Then why the heck are you working there if I can get stuff online?! She just made her job redundant so a recommendation to whom ever runs this business: you don’t need a reception. We then asked if we could visit the dogs, at least, so again in a very unfriendly was we were told to go downstairs and look at the animals. When we went down we passed by some of the staff and none of them even looked at us or said hi or anything. We felt super uncomfortable to even be there. I really love animals and could even think of donating my time to this ‘company’ for the animals, however, after this treatment and after having read some of the comments I am sure I will not return.

I’m so disappointed with my experience at this shelter. Like other comments here - I’m not sure what this beautiful structure is for and what the staff actually do there. However, I give credit to the staff at the basement who are actually working with/for the animals but as for the ladies at reception - lazy, incompetent and can’t be bothered to work.. We went there to look for a dog to adopt but like everything in Swiss, there’s a crazy process and it’s almost like people can’t rationalise or function independently because of it. There was no consideration to adopters, no guided walk throughs or information about the dogs we were interested in, no chance to connect with the dogs either. We asked how we can apply and they told us to go online even when we were right there - in other countries, they’d be excited and happy, letting you know all the information you need for next steps and even to take the dog for a walk to make sure you connect. However here, that’s just not the case.. you can’t connect with the dog until your online application is reviewed and you can’t walk the dog without a course (which is full for the entire year but yeah, you can pay CHF 120 if you don’t want to be on the waiting list!!) Plus, not all the dogs are up for adoption but you wouldn’t know because there’s no sign to say so.. only the one’s posted online are available and as you can expect - it’s not up to date! I believe in other comments here, this is not a shelter, this is a business trying to profit. They don’t want to rescue and they don’t want adopters, they want to keep what they can house to justify running the shelter with the least work required to maintain Low costs.

They moved! Wrong address! I would have given them 1 star in the US. There you can ask a company to catch a pet. Not happening in Switzerland! So my three stars should go to the crazy laws they inforce, but it's institutions like these that should fight to change stupid rules. A cat turned me crazy in Basel and I could only pick up a cage at TBB. That's it.. No service offering to catch the homeless cat. It was sick and needed physical help and sterilization. Not happening in Switzerland.. Goodness!
