Very nice looking tea shop, but service desperately needs improvement!
I went to this shop to buy two matcha mugs. The owner treated me like a beggar, judging me without knowing who I am and made me understand that it was better if I left. I have never been treated badly in any shop anywhere in the world, but this time was very offensive. I definitely do not recommend this shop to everyone. Terrible experience.
What's wrong with this shop owner? Drawn into this shop by the enthusiasm to add a few items to my Matcha room and with the intention to spend at least 500Frs I was put off by a judgmental shop owner who arrogantly looked down on me filling up her mouth with the word \energy\ ( of which she proved to have little knowledge of ) to define me of \bad energy\ for her shop ( excuse me ? ). It all turned out into a miserable display of prejudice that sounded to me very far away from the beauty and kindness of a tea ceremony. After having been lectured on how someone should behave I decided to leave a shop which is filled up with nothing but Chinese teas. Besides, the shop sells Matcha bowls and utensils while the shop owner states that Matcha is a Japanese industrial tea not worthy of attention. A very good experience when it comes to learning which places to steer away from.
Tea Masters are rare to find around the globe with excellent knowledge in rare teas. Zurich is lucky to have this lady who exhibits a proper tea house for the tea connoisseur. The selection of teas for those that know what they are looking for are excellent and the shop has different price points from premium to ultra premium. This is an authentic tea merchant who understands the value of high quality teas. I purchased different teas and was happy with the price / quality. Highly recommended, when you are looking for the authentic tea experience where teas are prized.
Customer service could be enhanced, it was rude and unfriendly. Also for me the price seems super expensive for the quality: pu-ehr and oolong teas I bought were some 20chf/ for 50-70g and taste wise they were very dull, probably the worst loose leaf teas I’ve drunked. Maybe you have to go to very high priced varieties to find good ones here.
Excellent shop. You’ll be surprised by an never-ending realm of knowledge, quality tea and tea toys, if you manage to keep an open mind. Both tea novices and veterans will find great teas with substance!
Really nice people. Knowledgeable staff and Meng Lin is a real tea expert. The go to tea shop in Zürich.
