PBPSA | POLYBUTENE PIPING SYSTEMS ASSOCIATION The Polybutene Piping Systems Association (PBPSA) is an international association of market leading companies committed to the use of the thermoplastic material, Polybutene-1 (PB-1) for the manufacture of piping systems used in pressurised heating, cooling and plumbing installations carrying drinking water. Also known as Polybutylene, PB-1 is used worldwide in plumbing and piping systems applications including large-scale building and infrastructure projects, district energy networks, heating and cooling, and plumbing installations. Our members, all global leaders in their market segments, consider PB-1 to be the technically preferred material providing many advantages over competitive and more traditional materials. This confidence has been well proven over long-term use under continuous pressure in hot and cold water installations in hostile environments. PB-1 PIPING SYSTEMS | TODAY'S TECHNOLOGY Continuous advances in both material technology and production processes, combined with stringent EU and International standards, have further raised the performance and reliability of Polybutene-1 piping systems. Rigid systems, with their problems of making watertight joints in confined spaces are rapidly being superseded by more plumber-friendly flexible systems such as PB-1, enabling easy prefabrication, efficient logistics and onsite handling, and faster installation – particularly in confined spaces.
