The best university canteen out of all UZH and ETH catering facilities in Zurich. Mensa usually offers 3 meal options: one with meat (fish menu on Fridays), one vegetarian menu and one pasta menu. There are always some baked veggies going alongside with each meal, however you can have a fresh salad, apple mousse or small soup instead of it. The student price for the whole meal is 5,40 CHF, for employees it’s around 7-8 CHF. For those who can’t find anything appealing, there is always a salad bar with self-service. One other meal option offered in Mensa is always something fancier than the normal meals, usually some burgers, chicken wings with fries or poke bowls, cost around 10-12 CHF. You can take food away in the special lunch boxes, for which you have to pay 10 CHF depot, which you get back once the box is returned. COVID-19 update: there are less sitting places inside Mensa at the moment, but a lot of people take their food outside. Only two menus are offered at the moment: vegetarian and meat. The trays with cutlery, napkins and water glasses are already prepared by Mensa stuff for you, so the risks are lowered.

They salt everything so much, it sometimes feels like being at the beach. Otherwise the food is very good. Especially their vegan oprions have massively improved over the years. Please keep it up!

Unjustified hate. For the price of 5.40 CHF it is literally unbeatable. Almost every day you have a a choice of different menu's, wich often include meat or fish. Often, you couldn't even beat the price by cooking yourself. Of course it isn't always the finest dishes, but in a majority of cases it is fairly tasty. And again, for the price it is very generous, especially if you ask for a big serving.
