C2SM is a competence center based at ETH Zurich, which aims to improve the understanding of the climate system and strengthen the predictive skill of climate models on time scales from months to millennia. C2SM's mission is to provide a networking platform for the five partners insitutions, ETH Zurich, MeteoSwiss, Empa, WSL, and Agroscope. C2SM currently includes 35 members who are professors or group leaders in one of the partner institutions and form the Plenary. The C2SM community includes all students, post-doctoral fellows, and scientific and technical staff from the Members'​ group. The center is run by an administrative office. C2SM seeks to foster interdisciplinary research and interactions across the partner institutions and research groups. C2SM provides an umbrella for a number of research projects, which investigate the climate system and its components at various spatio-temporal scales. C2SM provides support to its members in global climate modeling, regional climate modeling and climate data for research and educational activities. It also organizes educational activities such as training sessions, summer schools, technical and scientific workshops, and outreach events.
