Recently I was injured whilst skiing in Zermatt and was taken to Visp Hospital. I received extremely competent, compassionate and efficient emergency care. Back home in Australia, I am myself an Emergency Doctor, practicing as a specialist in Paediatric Emergency Medicine. I was extremely impressed by how well the Emergency Department worked together. I received immediate pain relief, rapid triage and investigation with XR, did not wait long for a specialty orthopaedic consultation and was transported to the operating theatre all within 3 hours of my accident occurring. I spent well under 4 hours in Emergency and this is a credit to the department. Further to this, the nursing staff which were looking after me both within ED and subsequently on the ward were both proficient and compassionate in their nursing care. Whilst I speak German, it is not perfect, and the staff also took the time to make sure my pain was managed and clarified my understanding of events and the treatment plan, something I very much appreciated. Operative repair of fractured ankle was uncomplicated and I am very satisfied with outcome of my treatment.

Really great hospital! Everyone was extremely nice and helpful. I've had a pretty painful humerus fracture and they found an operating spot in a matter of hours. The entire time I felt like I was in good hands and they even sent a physiotherapist to teach me exercises to recover my mobility! Food is amazing as well (mmm breakfast muesli). Also even though I don't speak German everyone made a huge effort to accurately explain to me what was going on. Almost everyone speaks fluent English and if they do not they know enough to get the message through. Overall extremely friendly and helpful staff and got everything I needed!
I was in Visp hospital 4,5 months ago with twisted knee (disrupted ACL and MCL). I called them in advance, if they would do me an MRI and if there was an orthopedist in place . They confirmed. While I got there they first charged me CHF 500 deposit, again confirming that there is an orthopedist and MRI available. Then after 5 hours of waiting they did an X-ray (which was unnecessary), and told that the MRI is not possible at that day and that they do not have an orthopedist in place. I gave them my insurance number to cover the expense (\u003eCHF 800), so I can get my deposit back. It was 4,5 months ago and I didn't receive my deposit back and their is no contact with them. Also the diagnosis made by a doctor was wrong, but it was no surprise, since he wasn't qualified to make such a diagnosis (general practitioner instead of orthopedist) and couldn't even use the right equipment for it (MRI instead of X-ray).
Received excellent treatment for a broken kneecap.

mit dem heli nach snowboard unfall nach visp. war auch recht freundlich und schnell alles. leider wurde der gebrochene wirbel einfach übersehen ( und im nachgang kann jeder laie diesen erkennen). ich wurde zurück in den urlaub geschickt mit der aussage es sei nur muskulär. das muss man sich mal vorstellen! ich war kurz davor mich mit medikamenten vollzudröhnen und einfach weiter zu fahren. wenn ich dann nur leicht gestürzt wäre.... gute nacht. für eine unfallklinik ein armutszeugnis. nach dem hinweis per mail kam nicht mal eine entschuldigung.
