What a gorgeous building! The paintings on all the exterior walls are just captivating. The Stadtverwaltung building of Stein am Rhein provides a great backdrop to the towns plaza. Great place to visit as part of any trip to Switzerland.

Historic (1000 ! years old) swiss small town located in the North of Switzerland. The best way for a one or two day trip for international Tourtists to do a round trip: From Zurich ist easy taking a Train via Winterthur to Stein am Rhein (approx. 80 min). There is a small walk from the Train Station to the small town (Walking over a Bridge which is presenting you a beautiful view to the City and the Fortress Hohenklingen on the top of the hill in the Background). There are a couple Restaurants/Cafés (some are closed in the winter time!). Also a few Hotels are available like Chlosterhof, and Ilge. TIP: local tour guides are available (to book at the Tourist Office, possible online) Apropos: 1940 Stein am Rhein was used as film Location for the movie \Die missbrauchten Liebesbriefe\ (novel by Gottfried Keller) starring Paul Hubschmid (in the USA better know as Paul Christian) and Anne-Marie Blanc. Another movie (Musical) \Alter Kahn und junge Liebe\ was filmed in 1973 with german singer Roy Black. Scenes filmed on the Harbor. Other Scenes have been filmed at the Rhinefall. INFO In the Summer time you should do a river boat ride to Schaffhausen (has a Fortress called Munot) make a small walk in the Centrum of the City, visiting the Rhinefall and returning from Schloss Lauffen with the Train via Winterthur to Zurich on the evening. - River Boat only during summer time (!) For train/bus/river boat tickets you should ask the SBB Touristinfo / ticket seller in Zurich

Wspaniała architektura i ręcznie malowane budynki powodują, że trzeba przynajmniej raz w życiu zobaczyć to miejsce

Stein am Rhein, Switzerland: The magical old town can best be enjoyed when the large rush of visitors have settled in the autumn. While strolling through the streets, which are dreaming in the old wall ring between \Ober-\ and \Understadt\, one dives into pictures from long ago, decelerated times ...
