On arrival after a long train trip (which fortunately the railway line is across the road) we found that we were one room short so a colleague had to go elsewhere for our time there. 31 students, 4 staff and no performances for a few days. Everyone was rapt to have some time to themselves to sleep in, explore, spend time on their own or just hang out. The rooms are youth hostel standard as are the bathrooms. But everything is clean and fairly quiet. Breakfast was good - adequate. Dinner - ho hum. Frozen fish which wasn't the best. The students made the most of the TV (England vs Iceland EU game - go Iceland) and the table tennis tables outside. Or they'd eat their meals outside just to soak up some Vitamin D. The jets flying over were entertaining and created alot of discussion about the recent events in Paris - which was where we were heading. The hostel is a short walk into town and close to a number of attractions that are worth visiting like the castles on the hill. Note that you need Swiss Francs and they are hard to exchange back so get just enough as you need or use your credit card.

Very clean, kind staff, a literal rock's throw from the train station. Great deal for what you get! Just bring your own cubby lock and towel
Well located by the centre of Sion, train and bus stations. Small superette nearby as well as the centre of town and a supermarket in the other direction. Had a small kitchen for use. Breakfast was good, although there was no baguette which I was disappointed by. The room was nice, although you could very easily hear everything that happened in the corridor. Staff told me someone would be at reception in the morning...there wasn't... Good youth hostel though, I've stayed in a lot worse.
Good location right next to the station and only a 5-10 walk from the old town centre of Sion. Greeted be a friendly and smiling woman, which kind of makes up my impression of the staff, since I don't talk to any other staff. Everything appeared clean and inviting, from the common areas, toilets, showers and room. It has to be mentioned though, that entering the rooms, the air did suffer from my bunkies having been in there for a while glued to each their screen - mobile and computer. Breakfast needs to be mentioned. It has by far been the best I have had in any hotel or hostel on my 10 days Interrailing.
This place restored my faith in Swiss Youth Hostels after a bad experience in Basel. The Sion hostel is conveniently located right behind the train station. The couple who run the place are friendly and speak German, French and English. The reception is only open till 10am and then again from 5pm, but if you arrive in the middle of the day you can drop your bags off and explore the city, then come back later to check in. The double room was clean, so was the bathroom, and the breakfast was plentiful. Bikes are available for hire.
I stayed there mid October, off season period but the weather was magnificent and the staff was very kind, too. Good memories!
