The hike up there is quite easy (despite the other reviews here). Really nice view to the valley and the visit is FOR FREE! All in all such a perfect experience.

Amazing guided tour by Cédric Jossen who provided us with so much precious informations about the local history. We were also able to visit the impressive 14th century chapel and the tower. The views from the hill were very nice too. If you are a mountain goat like my boyfriend and me then the hike up will be easy for you.

To get the best view of Sion, its a must visit place.. You get to see the landscapes of vineyards that are on the mountains.. and the castles are so well built... It takes around 20minutes from city center to reach top. Rocky Stairs before the main gate of old castle are quite slippery, so stay careful Must visit place

Great place! Lots to see. There's some steep climbing to get to the top (not hiking, all paths, fine if you are in moderately good shape). The castle is definitely in ruins, but there's a lot of structure left to see. The chapel is amazing looking with some intact frescoes still visible on the walls. Lots of great views to the surrounding countryside. Very peaceful. Take a lunch with you and have an amazing picnic!

Beautiful view from the castle. It is a bit of a climb up, but well worth the effort.

Beautiful. We stopped multiple times to take photos along the way up. The tail includes stairs and a rough path with uneven grounds to get there. Almost like hiking, cake for the Swiss. Took us Americans, who parked in the center of city, about 15 minutes to summit. It was closed when we were up there, but had many views to take in!

Very nice view on the city and a short hike up the hill. Nothing spectacular but we did not attend the guided tour.

The castle is reasonable shape, given its age, it is intriguing to consider what life would have been like to live here. It is at the top of a long climb from town and may be more than some are prepared for, but the view of the surrounding area is why you will make this hike.
