This train station grew too big because it became an important passenger rail hub. The main station building ended up being in the middle of train tracks (useless) connected with an underpassage that is now too tight because also the shops and takeaways have moved there and foot traffic has increased so much. Outside it's a war between private cars trying to pick up passengers, crazy taxi drivers and angry bus drivers which have to fight with cars to overtake other waiting buses. At rush hour it all gets clogged up because cars cannot get on the road. As a consequence of lack of space there is no station park, lounge area, nothing.

Most people think of Olten as a train station, not a a town. Convenient connections to every place in Switzerland and abroad. This is where Swiss Railway stared from and there is the so-called Stunde Null Stein. This is because all the times on the historic train time charts were calculated from here.
