The Muri Abbey is a complex of buildings dating all the way back to 1064. It comprises of a beautiful baroque church, surrounded by an enclosed cloister and the convent. It also houses a small but excellent collection of volumes on nature and medicine, which includes fantastic printed works of Paracelsus, Albrecht Dürer, and a spectacular volume of the De Humani Corporis Fabrica. It holds many reliquaries, religious jewels and vestments. The full price ticket is 10 CHF and it is worth every penny. An audio guide is available for free in different languages. There are interactive displays all over the place to better understand the history of the buildings and the life of the monks.

Schöne Klosterkirche. Sehr zu empfehlen
Wunderbares Benediktiner Kloster mit gepflegter Umgebung. Spannendes Museum mit moderner Multimediaführung zur Klostergeschichte und den Habsburgern (Herzen). Toll auch für Kinder. PS: Gratis für Kinder.
Sehr schöne und eindrucksvolle Kirche. Ein Ort mit viel Geschichte
L'abbazia di Muri (Kloster Muri) fu fondata nel 1027 dal conte Radebot d’Asburgo e dalla moglie Ita di Lorena. Nel 1032 i monaci benedettini di Einsiedeln vi fondano una scuola (la più antica d‘Argovia). Incendiata nel 1300, devastata nei secoli seguenti durante le guerre fra Asburgo e Confederati, l’abbazia è ricostruita nel 1532 dall‘abate Laurenz von Heidegg e dai suoi successori nei secoli seguenti. Nel 1841, il convento, dopo 814 anni di vita monastica, è soppresso. I monaci, nel 1845 si trasferiscono a Bolzano nell'Abbazia di Muri-Gries. A partire dal 1953 la Confederazione, il Cantone d‘Argovia e la chiesa cattolica di Muri riportano l‘abbazia agli antichi splendori.
