This i a monument/obelisk dedicated to the battle of Murten in 1476. The Battle of Murten symbolizes the emerging potency of the Swiss Confederacy in its beginnings. Their opponent, Charles the Bold or Charles the Brash the last of the Valois Dukes of Burgundy was also, as the new Confederacy, young, dynamic and ambitious. If you happen to drive along this monument it is worth to take a look around it and stop for a minute. Very precious inbetween the small forrest.

Imposantes Denkmal von schönen Bäumen flankiert. Eine Hinweistafel mit Erklärungen wäre vielleicht noch sinnvoll. Kostenfreie Parkiermöglichkeit direkt am Denkmal, ist einfach zu finden (direkt an der Umgehungsstraße von Murten gelegen) und der Zugang (Fussgänger Bahnunterführung) zum See liegt direkt neben dem Denkmal. Nach dem Besuch des Denkmals kann man einen Spaziergang am bewaldeten Murtensee machen oder auch dort baden gehen. Es sind einzelne, kleinere "Badebuchten" vorhanden mit sehr flachem Ufer. Also ideal für Familien mit kleinen Kindern.
