Git a take away. The boss was working in the kitchen. He got our order within 15 minutes while simultaniously dealing with the delivery people. :) The burgers and milkshakes were great!

Used to be the best burger in basel, a couple of years ago. Now it's just mediocre. But i deel like they serve more convenience food now and they nessed up my order once.
Not the experience I was hoping for. The four booths near the window were all reserved (but didn't get filled during my meal) so I ended up at a wobbly single person table near the toilets. The fries were excellent, but my cheeseburger was pretty dry (even though it had BBQ sauce and Mel's sauce) on top of that, the cheese was pretty tasteless. The atmosphere was excellent though since the diner has great music. Be warned that food comes at a premium price, even for Basel, and it's hard to get your money's worth. Mel's seems to have become a victim of its own success.

I like this place, mainly because of the style of food the interior design. The quality of the food is average to good, I used to think of it as a more of a 4 and 5, but compared to the other places, which have improved I had to re-rate it with a 3star. Drinks can be expensive.

I really liked the place, gives you a real american feeling. Before I got my Burger, I had a salad and some warm pizza bread which both was very good! As the Burger arrived I expected a lot.. Unfortunately the Burger wasnt that great. It tasted kinda lame, and you didnt really have a taste explosion in it..So I was kinda disappointed. The fries and the Milkshakes are great! Maybe I just tried the wrong Burger.
It was ok, all completely edible but nothing to rave about. I'd say the meat in my burger was overcooked despite having asked for medium rare. The place has a lot of personality with funky 50s-60s decor. Service was good and friendly. A bit on the pricey side at 62 CHF for burger, fries, and a drink (2 people).
