I have taken french classes for 6 months trough Zoom (similar to Skype) and the experience is great. It is even better than a face to face class!!!! Besides you don't spend time going to a place in the traffic jam!!!! You just wait with a glass of good wine in front of your computer, your teacher's call!!! Try it and see how good it is.

Students who fall prey to schools proposing “miracle methods” of learning languages have about the same success rate as investors who subscribe to “get rich quick” schemes. What makes Judith Varadi and her team so special is that they deliver a miracle without promising one. Having mastered several languages the conventional way through years of structured classes and “séjours linguistiques,” I wanted to take a more efficient approach to learning Spanish and Brazilian Portuguese. My demands were a tall order by any standard because I needed: (1) private lessons; (2) every day after work and on the weekends if I wasn’t travelling; and (3) to be functional in these two languages within 12 weeks. The success of the Varadi method lies in its adaptability. Her tag-team of two multilingual teachers accelerated the learning process by using all of the languages I already knew to connect common linguistic concepts - sometimes even between Spanish and Japanese. Who knew such similarities existed! Within only a few weeks, I no longer needed the Spanish interpreters at the UN, and I was even able to have dinner with Brazilian friends while conversing in Portuguese. I have been going to Ecole Varadi for 2 years now. I have nothing but positive things to say about the school. The staff is very friendly and always looking to help. The one-on-one lessons are highly customized to suit the students' learning style and needs. I have been taking french lessons with Gaelle for the last 2 years and she has been fantastic. Gaelle is extremely well organized and prepared for each lesson and goes above and beyond what is expected. She keeps the lessons fun and exciting by mixing things up and does a great job on focusing on strengthening my weak areas. If anyone is on the fence about going to this school, I hope this review will help you in your decision making process.
It was such a pleasure learning French with the Varadi method, I had two teachers who both made the classes very enriching and stimulating, the learning process was very quick, after the first couple classes, I could already have small conversations in French. The staff was very flexible and nice to accommodate me.
This school was not very expedient nor quite as welcoming as other language schools. One is required to pay upfront for the trial class before having ever met anyone. They only accept wire transfers and refused cash on the day or payment via credit cards. When I pointed out that the procedure was not very accomodating I was told that if I was not satisfied I could go find another school. No customer service to speak of and the person I dealt with was rude.. I will not be using this school again.
I had a terrific experience with Gaelle as a French teacher. Ecole Varadi had been recommended to me as “the best language school in Geneva”, and indeed, Gaelle is an extraordinary teacher. Rather than following the sequence of a textbook or pre-defined curriculum, she adapted my lessons around my gaps in knowledge and whatever I needed at the moment. Our dialogues were fun and engaging. As I travel a lot, roughly half of my classes were done via Skype – which worked perfectly, as if we were in the room together. I now feel confident and inspired to speak French outside of the school, which makes all the difference for my life here in Geneva. I’m so grateful to have had these classes with Gaelle and would highly recommend her to anyone wanting to improve their language skills while enjoying the process of learning.
Depuis le début de mon cours de français, j'ai beaucoup progressé. Les explications du professeur étaient claires, ce qui m'a permis de bien avancer. Le professeur était toujours disponible pour répondre à mes questions et m'a beaucoup aidé dans ma reconversion professionnelle. Pour moi tout s'est bien passé et je suis très satisfait du résultat de mon programme.
Traversant une période de vie difficile, j’ai eu la chance de pouvoir suivre des cours d’espagnol à l’école Varadi. L’objectif était personnel et thérapeutique. Je remercie infiniment mon professeur, José Lopez Jimenez pour son approche pédagogique, son accompagnement thérapeutique, ainsi que son professionnalisme et sa réussite dans ce challenge compliqué. J’ai eu le privilège de suivre des cours particuliers (le tour d’une langue en 80 leçons) bien structurés et d’une efficacité incroyable. Je ne peux que recommander cette école et sa méthode, ainsi que mon professeur qui a surpassé mes espérances.
