Culinary art, a festival of colors and flavors delivered and presented creatively by waiters that will happily explain the philosophy underlying each dish (like the Japanese Tiramisu). Very fresh and high quality fish for sushi lovers will make for a unique culinary experience wrapped in an intimate atmosphere in this well decorated restaurant. We will definitely come back.

Today we went for lunch at Sauan in Geneva. We had a collection of sushi, starters and mains. All the food was superb, and we would rate it with 5 stars. Probably one of the best maki rolls we have eaten. Really fluffy and tasty. The reason we only give 4 stars is because the service needs to improve significantly. I took pretty long and the courses didn’t come together but in stages. And on top they forgot about 4 times part of our order. This shouldn’t be the case in this price level.

Sauan offers a true Japanese experience with high quality ingredients and subtle flavors. It is among the very best I have experienced outside of Japan! If you are discovering Japanese cuisine for the first time, I highly recommend that you experience one of their full-course menus.

We went there with my family two days ago at noon. Restaurant was empty except another table. Despite that the service was so slow that our minds were tricked into thinking we were full despite eating few dishes from the menu, which was way too expensive. The amount was low, and some sushis were far from having fresh textures and taste. Shrimp sushis were a joke, as they barely hatched from their eggs and were the size (and had the texture) of a very small slug with no taste whatsoever. I was expecting a lot as this restaurant has a good reputation, but it was far from reality.

Very good menus! Expensive, like all good Japanese places in Geneva, but the lunch menus are a bit less so.

Great quality sushi. The tempura shrimp is fantastic. Fresh and almost raw shimp. Very soft! Only point is that the service is a bit on the slow side.

A consistent experience as most the reviews suggest: The food is very good and freshly prepared. The service is gentle - and maybe sometimes a bit slow (over lunch I usually have time constraints to be back at work, whereas in the evening it’s just the right speed). The salmon don was delicious and the miso soup also smoother than elsewhere. In regards of sizes, I think this is in line with Japanese kitchen, where you are not getting overflowing plates. So ok. And finally, I would agree that it is rather on the expensive side. But it’s worth it.

Excellent restaurant with Japanese chefs and friendly staff. Food is fresh, you can have sushi (very nice) or other Japanese specialties like Don and Teriyaki. Lunch menu also offers great value.
