The Goetheanum is the spiritual and administrative center of anthroposophy and Waldorf schools, based on the teachings of Rudolf Steiner. The building was constructed in the 1920s. The organic concrete structure avoids (mostly) right angles. A guided tour is recommended. There is also a bookshop and a restaurant.
It was one of my central destinations in Europe and it did not disappoint. I was surprised by all of the surrounding architecture that is also stunning. I’ll admit I was won over before I arrived, but I believe that every person who is open and curious will find the Goetheanum and surrounding campus stunning as in another world from a future time. The Glass House, Spieshaus (with Demeter food), the Biodynamic garden, and everything inside the Goetheanum was amazing. I only wish I had months to stay and go deeper.
A sculpted concrete building serving as the hub of multi field cultural and scientific renewal projects and center of the Anthroposophic worldview. There are tours I think German, English, Spanish perhaps other languages too. There are beautiful carved glass windows with spiritual significance. A nice cafeteria for coffee and a snack. Bookstore has innovative toys, loads of books with lots of translations. Several meeting places from a great hall to conference rooms as there are often multiple conferences ongoing.
Rudolf Steiner's Goetheanum is an interdimensional masterpiece. Should be more widely reknown.
Extraordinary building in a beautiful landscape. Well worth a visit. Check out the inside too. Amazing organic architectural passages, carved glass coloured windows like you won't see anywhere else in the world. Fascinating paintings and sculptures everywhere and mostly very friendly people. The cafe is very reasonably priced with wholesome biodynamic food. Of this review helps, please like.
The Goetheanum is the most inspiring place I ever visited in my life! So many lovely people with amazing story's and beautiful nature and culture. I recommend everyone to come, see and experience the holistic atmosphere and everything else!
A beautiful place with so much history. My husband took me here as both his father and step mother contributed to this museum which was super cool. They have a lot of programs to offer and the architecture of the place is beautiful.
