The Global Ophthalmology Awards Program (GOAP) is an initiative instituted by Bayer that supports research and training in ophthalmology with the aim of advancing the scientific understanding and clinical management of retinal disorders. Through research and training grants, the program seeks to provide opportunities for ophthalmology clinicians and researchers that will ultimately lead to improved treatment and management for the world’s ophthalmology patients. Since its inception in 2014 the Global Ophthalmology Awards Program has provided more than 4mio. USD in research and training grants to 82 applicants from around the world. These grants have led to 85 peer-reviewed publications and 65 congress presentations so far. The GOAP demonstrates Bayer’s commitment to the global ophthalmic disorders community and to advancing state-of-the-art eye care.
