Very good, clean and friendly restaurant. There is really a chef in the kitchen! Was my second time there and definitely not my last ;-)

I both stayed at the hotel and ate at the restaurant. Firstly I had made my booking online over a month in advance and had a confirmation number, but when I arrived they had no record of my reservation. The staff spoke zero English (it’s Bern not the middle of the desert) and had to call in their manager to sort the issue - I had to wait there for over 20 minutes and was offered no refreshments until the manager finally came and sorted the issue out. In their description on Google it says free breakfast with the stay but that was a complete lie. I wanted more tissues for my room as the box had run out and had to stand at the front desk for 20 minutes before someone even listened to me after which they give me a few napkins from the restaurant. The white lady was rude to me the whole time and made the stay unbearable. The cleaning lady also barged into the room while I’m changing without knocking. As for the restaurant food was mediocre and extremely overpriced - you’re better off going to the migros grocery store next door (which is exactly what I did). Stay away from this place at all costs. If I could figure out how to give 0/5 I would.
The quality of the food is excellent. The negativ piont is just because you have to wait a eternity until you will get the food

We spent there quite some time in Oct./Nov. 2016. (approx. 3 weeks) The only \complaint\ we had was about the occasionally weak WiFi signal at some parts of the building. The owner and the staff were extremely friendly, the location is perfect (far from downtown, but still minutes away from almost \any\ place), near the airport, railway (but you can't here it...) and the highways. Free (even underground) parking, cozy rooms, proper quality food. They have several rooms in the restaurant for simultaneous events, and they have a large and well equipped garden for outdoor \activities\. It's too bad that we couldn't enjoy it due to weather conditions. The locals create a friendly atmosphere during the afternoons/evenings. There are numerous options nearby for eating out as well. Should you feel like tasting some local \liquid stuff\, the Wabräu brewery is also just minutes away. The conclusion of our staying at Maygut: Thumbs up!
I stayed here as a hotel guest for two nights. There was a mix-up with my booking - I had booked two nights but they'd only reserved a room for one night. Fortunately it wasn't a problem. The room was pretty standard and with plenty of windows it was well lit with natural light. The pillows were extremely soft and had to be folded several times before I could sleep on them. The price of accommodation was extremely reasonable at CHF 90 per night compared to other hotels in downtown Bern at almost double that for less spectacular rooms. From my own experience and that of others, this would appear to be a very reasonably priced hotel and it's easy to get in and out of town on the tram (the cost of the ticket only adds CHF 8.40). It's also not too far to walk and on a nice day it would be very pleasant. Only had a short time to eat here. The food I had was ok, nothing special. It was very expensive in my opinion but that's Switzerland and I didn't get a chance to compare it to other places in Bern either on price or quality.
