Luzern is the place to be for Fasnacht! The city streets are filled with locals in amazing costumes. It's a very festive event. There are bands (called cliques) that circulate all through the streets in the old town playing drums and fifes and brass.They wear costumes and huge paper mach'e heads. Throwing confetti is a large part of the fun! You may be expecting to be thrown some candy, but it may be a fist full of confetti in your face. Very fun spirited. Put it on your bucket list!

Früher war die Luzerner Fastnacht samt Katzenmusik etc. ein absolutes Highligt. Heute stellt sie nur noch einen billigen Abklatsch der ursprünglichen Luz. Fastnacht dar. Es tut mir leid, dieses heute armselige Daherkommen mit anzusehen! R. Mueller
