This sculpture is beautiful and is encased by a beautiful,calming and peaceful pond. I was fortunate during my visit there wasn’t a single person and I got to take in and appreciate the art work and surrounding area without being disturbed. Seeing the snow come down and thin ice on the pond gave the art work a unique view . Also a huge bonus is a free and very clean public restroom located on the grounds. Which during my exploration of Lucerne, seemed to be few and far between.

One of the famous monuments in Luzern. The lion is so meticulously designed that it just startles you in first Glace. This whole place provides a nice scenic background to take wonderful pictures.

The saddest lion in a happy country can surprise anyone. And the history behind this lion monument is no less tragic. A popular landmark in Lucerne, the lion monument is visited by tourists all day. Do visit to learn about the time when mercenary activities used to be one of the important income sources in Switzerland.
Beautiful historic sculpture inside the rock, created 1820-1821, in the middle of the city of Lucerne. It represents the fallen soldiers of the Swiss guard, standing by Louis XVI, during La Révolution in France.
It’s truly a stunning memorial. When there’s not so many tourists, it’s a lovely place to sit on one of the benches and enjoy the view. It’s much larger than it seems but since there’s nothing for scale near it it’s hard to tell. There’s public toilets nearby.
