In my last trip to Switzerland, I have visited the EPFL campus in Lausanne primarily to get the chance to experience this contemporary architectural work which is unique in its conception of the continuity of interior space, and in the making of flowing public space underneath the building with easy access to the building at different points. The undulating and perforated concrete shell of the building curves up and down touching the ground at different points where the interior is accessed through the circular courtyards. The space below the shell is continuous and flows between the different light wells. The interior space itself is also continuous over the whole structure and is not divided into separate rooms and circulation space; no doors within the whole building! All in all, the spacial experience is quite unique both externally and internally.

The library looks nice from the inside and outside, but regarding that it is already full of students at 8am in the mornings during exam period I would prefer more space than a fancy design

The library is very loud and not conducive towards learning. The rules of not speaking or eating are not enforced and seldom respected, especially amongst french students.
