Another interesting stop while visiting Geneva. Located about 10 from the reformation wall. Accessible by bus or tram. FREE entrance. Many famous people are burried in this nice little and well maintained cementery. Spend some time looking at the different graves. From presidents to poets, as well as engineers and scientists. Also, here you can find the grave that is traditionally attributed to John Calvin. Recommended

Beautiful cemetery/park with lot of trees and space. Jean Calvin and Jorge Luis Borges rest here.
A number of well known people are buried here. These include Jean Calvin and others. The cemetery is relatively small and can be entered from three different entrances. It is a relatively small out of the way cemetery.

이곳은 종교개혁자 장 칼방의 무덤이 있는 곳입니다. 수많은 무덤들이 있지만 그 중에 707번 무덤을 찾으면 JEAN CALVIN의 무덤입니다. 칼방은 생전에 자신이 드러나는 것을 극도로 경계했던지라, 자신의 무덤이 이렇게 사람들에게 알려지는 것도 그의 뜻은 아닐 것입니다. 허나, 개혁신앙을 따르는 우리들은 그의 무덤을 보면서 그가 어떤 삶을 살아갔는지에 대한 통찰과 우리 스스로의 삶에 대한 성찰을 해볼 수 있습니다. 무덤 자체에는 아무런 의미를 더할 것이 없지만, 그 무덤을 수단삼아 우리는 칼방의 삶 전체를 회상해볼 수 있습니다. 즉 칼방의 존재에서 가치를 찾는 것이 아니라, 그의 삶 전체에 역사하신 하나님을 느끼는 것입니다. 무덤을 방문함으로써 하나님께서 칼방을 어떻게 사용하셨는지 생각해보는 것이지요. 칼방은 사람입니다. 그러나 그와 함께 하시고 그보다 앞서 역사하신 분은 하나님이십니다. 우리는 칼방을 통해 그 하나님을 생각할 수 있습니다. 수많은 무덤들이 함께 있습니다. 그중엔 나름 화려하게 장식되고 꾸며진 무덤이 있는가 하면, 이름도 빛도 없이 가꿔지지 않은 버려진 무덤들도 즐비합니다. 칼방의 무덤도 그와 같지만, 그럼에도 우리는 칼방의 무덤을 통해 역사에 남는 이름은 오직 하나님 뿐이심을 다시 한번 되새길 수 있습니다.
