Impressive collection, among the best in Switzerland. Early works from Picasso and great collection of works by Swiss painters Hodler and Bocklin. Also has some nice impressionist works from Pissarro, Cézanne’s bathers, Renoir, Van Gough, Monet, etc. No written annotations but you can pay for an audio guide. You can also access the new building which has more modern art. The ticket staff member was very particular about the student ticket, refused my photo on my phone while I had been fine using that other places. Full ticket is 16 francs

One of the best art museums in the world. It does not have much collection from classical era, but it has a rich collection of modern era like the artworks of impressionists, expressionists, cubists, surrealists, pop artists, dadaists etc. In addition, it has some excellent sculptures on display. I have seen works of master painters like Rembrandt, Monet, Manet, Renoir, Degas, Pissaro, Cezanne, Van Gogh, Paul Gauguin, Picasso, Dali, Paul Klee, Mondrian, Matisse, Swiss star artist Giacometti, Russian Kandinsky, american Jasper Johns and many more. There is a store and a restaurant attached to the museum.

Superb museum with great collections. Particularly pleased to come across a Calder piece I had admired in books. Loved getting free access for International Women's Day! Pleasant, but quite pricey, bistro. Great to have free locks to leave costs and bags in.

One of my favourite museums. Great collection spanning at least 5 centuries of art. Oldest public museum in the world that started with the acquisition of Holbeins work by the city in 1661. Now has a modern aisle to host major exhibitions, and a satelite museum for contemporary art. Worth every visit!

The Museum has a beautiful antique collection spanning from the 13th to the 21st Century in the Old Building. In the new building, the collections are always changing and different so theres always something new to see! -Picture of a Photograph, part of the current Photography Collection in the New Building.
