We applied for two tourist visas in September. One of us a Swiss citizen, the other one an Iranian citizen with Swiss residence permit. First thing that annoyed me was that you must call maybe three times in different times of the day before you are lucky enough to have your call being answered. Then they said to us it would take one week but after two weeks we still did not have our passports back. Eventually we got our passports back after a waiting time of almost three weeks and guess what...? The Iranian did not get the visa! We both had an identical application. We had all the flights booked (they ask for it) and even booked a tour with a local tour operator. So refusing him means that they generally do not issue visas to Iranians at all. Let me give you my advice: better inform your guests honestly from the beginning so they can spend their money elsewhere. Actually it was the worst incidence ever that happened with a consulate and we criticize their incompetence.
