Absolutely gorgeous library. Worth a visit!

Busier in terms of traffic and petrol fumes than I anticipated. Glad of a map to guide me from the railway station to the Abbey. The key attraction is the library but it is a very dark interior and hard to see the displays. The exhibitions in the Painted Vault and in the archive wing were excellent. Imaginatively put together and informative. A life size and very realistic waxwork of St Gall. But didn't Irish tradition monks tattoo their eyelids? The St Lorenz Church next door, Lutheran, was a relief after the overcooked baroque of the Abbey Church.

There is even a 1600 years old mummy. Very impressive, but also quite small I think.

Nice place but rather small. Not worth the price. same price as the Louvre in Paris... also no pictures allowed even without flash and that in the entire building not only the library

A wonderful place, very well kept , it's cheaper to buy the ticket for the whole tour instead of the individual ones. Taking pictures is not allowed, unfotunately.

If you are ever visiting St. Gallen, you have to visit the Abbey Bibliotek, it is amazingly adorned and painted, with a collection of some of the oldest books. Just amazing that they survived this long, incredible. There is an entrance fee, and they also have an audio guided system, that is worth the money, so informative. The entrance to the library, above the doorway is in Greek, and reads, \the souls doctor\ or \doctor to the soul\. The ticket also allows entrance to the lower level of collections of Ancient relics that were found around the area. Very informative and historical tour. The Abbey itself is an incredible part, also worth a visit, heavily adorned and embellished, the painted ceilings are impressive, just fantastic, something you have to see and admire, don't miss, a must.

Nice and cozy small one room library . Brilliant collection though!

Though the room is beautiful, the Abbey sells way too many tickets, allows too many people into the library at one time And, thus, creates a very unsafe environment in these Covid19 times. We felt so unsafe that we had to leave within 5 minutes, spending 24 Chf for virtually nothing. When we alerted the ticket office they said that there was nothing that they could do (!!) and when we asked for a voucher to come back at a rime that was less crowded we were brushed off. The abbey, a UNESCO monument is more interested in making money than the health of visitors. Horrible!
